Spy Hop

I started working with film a few years ago, but only within the past six months or so has it become a strong passion of mine. Movies have always been my forte, but through most of my life I took the role of a critic rather than a filmmaker, only to be changed when getting involved with Spy Hop Productions and the youth film community. But even before that I had a strong interest in visual effects and design. I have now been working with 3-d animation and visual effects for about a year, starting off in programs such as Lightwave, the Vue Infinite series and as of late After Effects; all of which strictly for hobby but I hope to change that soon. Everything I know about effects has been self-taught through tutorials, books or simply playing around until I figure out something I like. I've applied these techniques to create an interactive DVD portfolio, as well as titles and effects for short films that Spy Hop has produced. On the film side, I have gone through a six month video apprenticeship where I got to work on actual film shoots, edit a twenty minute documentary, create some trailers and then learn all about flmmaking while putting it to use. Now I am a student in the Pitch-Nic program at Spy Hop; an intense, year long experience where six students end up making two twenty minute short films that will be premiered at a local theater in the fall.
